The spring market is just about upon us. Now is a good time to start thinking about what can be done to improve the curb appeal of your home if you will be planning to sell this spring. Even if you are not planning to market your home this spring or summer it is a great time time to be outdoors and do a few projects to spruce up your home's exterior.

If you plan on selling a home this spring or summer start planning ways to improve curb appeal. You will want to consider some landscaping ideas. Plant beds are a good way to add to the appeal of your home and make a great first impression on buyers as they pull into the driveway. Start by removing any dead plants and replace them with fresh plants and flowers to add some color. Make sure to replace mulch where needed and to keep your flower beds clean and weeded. Home and garden shows are a great way to come up with ideas for plants and landscaping, and they will also provide a fun day out for the family. There are also some good software programs for designing landscaping. These software programs can help to give you an idea of what the landscaping project will look like before you actually do the work.

While you are concentrating on the exterior there a a few more items to look into. Make sure to touch up any paint that has faded or chipped. Clean the windows and screens, and remove any debris from window wells. If your home has vinyl or metal siding you may want to power wash it to clean it up and make it look fresh.

Take a good walk around the exterior and make note of anything that buyers may find unappealing or that looks like it needs maintained. Many of these things can be done wothout a contractor and may be as simple as cleaning the gutters.

Just spending a weekend on the exterior of your home could make the difference in a quick sale or an extended market time. Remember, that many times a decision is made as soon as the buyer pulls into the driveway. If your home doesn't have good curb appeal the buyer may in their mind eliminate your home before they even enter the door.
