I fully realize that this is a real estate website and many would only expect real estate posts on this blog, but as I watch the news I find that the economy is probably the most talked about subject right now. No doubt that housing is also high on the list with the number of foreclosures and the lending crisis.

I do not have many answers on the economy, but I do think that there is a lot of fear and uncertainty out there, and many who are searching for answers or have questions of their own. I have heard some in the media ask how much of what Washington does actually has an affect on us as individuals from day to day? I would probably agree that many times what Washington does may not affect me in my daily life. On the other hand, when the economy, the housing slow down, or some other factor has forced your employer to shut down, kept you from selling your home, or you have had to file bankruptcy, you may really be feeling the effects of what Washington decides.

On April 23,2009 Dave Ramsey will present live via satellite, Town Hall for Hope. I encourage you, no matter what you think of Dave Ramsey to plan to attend somewhere. I think that the fact that already over 1 million have signed up to attend at over 5,000 locations says that many of us are at a loss as to what to do or think in times like these. There are also places on the site where you can submit questions that Dave will be answering live during the broadcast.

I think there is some cause for hope. The fact that at least in Northeast Kansas, the market seems to be picking up and deals are closing is good news for now. Tomorrow I will post some information about the 8,000 tax credit for first time buyers. This seems to be another topic bringing up many questions.
